Highlights in the HCC Indonesian Department in 2010
In addition to participating in different classroom lessons and activities, the Year 9 students
have enjoyed the opportunity to participate in Indonesian in a wide range of cultural excursions such as
watching an Indonesian Movie called “Ruma Maida (“Maida’s House”) at Wesley Senior College Theatre; enjoying
eating a delicious Indonesian lunch at the ‘Indonesian Restaurant’ as well as visiting the Indonesian Consulate
to learn gamelan and Shadow Puppet.
INDONESIAN TRIP
On Saturday 26 June 2010, Year 9 and some of the Year 8 LOTE
Indonesian students and school staff are heading to Indonesia for 18 days to participate in an Indonesian
Course and Language Immersion Programme.We will be staying in Yogyakarta (Middle Java) for 14 days and Denpasar and Kuta, in Bali
for 4 days and will return to Melbourne on Wednesday 14July
2010.
The purpose of this Indonesian Course and Language Immersion
Programme is for the students to immerse themselves in the lifestyle and custom of the nation whose language
they have been learning.When in Yogyakarta, students will stay with a
Christian family and in Hotels in Denpasar and Kuta, in Bali.
Some of the activities that the Indonesian students will be
doing in Indonesia include: participating in a language course, a batik making course, a cooking course, a
leather puppet course, some gamelan (instrument) practice, biking, involvement in traditional farming
practice, playing kites, watching Ramayana Ballet at Prambanan Temple and visiting a Kotagede Silversmith,
where the students will participate in a silver course and can also buy silver.Some of the places that we will be visiting are:Borobudur, Royal Palace, Parangtritis Beach, Imogiri Noble Cemetery, Waterbom Park,
Elephant Park, and watching sunsets at the beach,to name but a few.Shopping and relaxing at the beach are also high on the agenda!
The LOTE Indonesian students have been working hard to prepare
themselves for this immersion programme and are looking forward to the event.
The Indonesian Department wishes to express our thanks and
gratitude to the College Board and our College community, especially to the parents who have supported the
valuable activities that will benefit the students.

CURRICULUM
DAY (No School for all Students
P-12) Friday
24th February, 2012 To assist working parents we are offering a day
program here at the school on Friday 24thFebruary from 8am-6pm. The program will be
capped to 20 students and is only available for Prep-Grade 6 students. The supervised program
will involve various craft and sporting activities. It is essential to book in for this program.
The cost of the day program will be $30 per child. To receive a form to book in for the day
