The Wonderful Ones
Hello! My name is Amber Orton and I have the privilege of teaching the delightful, vibrant, energetic, artistic and
talented Grade 1’s. We have had a great start to the year!
Each day we have devotions to learn about our GREAT God. During this time we discuss the bible,
what particular scriptures mean to us and how we can apply basic biblical principles to our everyday lives. We
begin each day with a time of prayer, asking God to be with us and help us throughout the day. We also pray for
specific prayer points or praise points. There is not better way to start the day than in a time of prayer.
Literacy groups are a big highlight for the children. They enjoy reading, writing, being
creative and doing many more fun and interesting activities.
Maths lessons are always fun and a little competitive, as the children love playing
Elimination, Steps and Buzz.
We are currently enjoying learning about ‘Flying and Falling’ as part of our Integrated
Studies topic for Term 1. Over the rest of the year we will be looking at topics such as ‘Radical Recycling,’
‘Minibeasts’ and ‘Seasons.’ We have lots of fun and exciting activities, experiments and research opportunities
planned.
The children enjoy daily exercise during ‘Huff and Puff’ and are encouraged to race
against themselves not one another.
I am excited to have the honour of guiding and nurturing each of these wonderful children
in their school journey and I look forward to seeing and sharing in their successes this year.
Proverbs 1:5 Let the wise listen and add to their
learning. (NIV)
