First Day of School, 2011

Welcome to the Terrific Twos with Mrs Buchanan-Jeffs

I have the pleasure of coming to school each day and being greeted with big smiles, lots of questions and eagerness to learn and achieve. For this I feel incredibly blessed.

We start our day with a daily devotion where we talk about how the Bible guides us through life and how we can follow Gods word to help us in our individual quests.

The Terrific Twos enjoy our Literacy rotations where they partake in activities in a small group guided by myself or a parent helper. The activities include reading, writing, spelling, speaking and listening, creating and much more.

In Mathematics they are extending their knowledge and skills in number, space and shape, time, measuring chance and data and word problems.

The Terrific Twos love getting competitive and winning house points therefore we play lots of fun number and spelling games.

The integrated topic we are covering in Term One is The Sea and The Beach. The children are really enjoying craft activities as well as reading and writing about sea creatures and their habitats.

In Term Two we will be learning all about The Farm and going on an excursion to Chesterfield Farm.

Each day we take part in Huff and Puff or Wake Up Shake Up before our fruit break. Both activities encourage a healthy lifestyle. During Huff and Puff the children race against themselves to reach a personal best. Wake Up Shake Up is a fast pace dance routine that the children learn which assists the development of rhythm and coordination, plus it is very enjoyable.

We are currently exploring the use of iPads which is extremely exciting for us all. So far we have used them for maths games, literacy games, story telling and typing our narrative writing.
