About Grade 5, 2010

Welcome to Grade 5 with Mr. Elkington.
It’s all happening in Grade 5.
Class motto: ‘Always try your best!’

Grade 5 2010

We are looking forward to a fantastic year in Grade 5. Our program includes a variety of engaging lessons in Mathematics, Literacy, Science, Geography, History etc. We are proud of our classroom and can’t wait to share with you some photos of our wonderful work shortly. Currently the Grade 5’s are studying the Australian Government for Integrated Studies. We have two very exciting incursions for this topic happening later this term.

An important part of Grade 5 is committing our day to God every morning with a devotion time. During this time the students are encouraged to pray for each other and the school community. Students also have the opportunity to lead and prepare devotions in small groups. We often spend time singing praise to God as well.

Grade 5

Recently the class shared their favourite memory verses.

Jacquie likes James 1:17.
‘Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.’ (NIV translation)

Taneesha’s favourite verse is John 3:16.
‘For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.’ (NIV translation)

Tarity likes Psalm 9:1.
I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done. (NLT translation)

Elliot enjoyed reading the book of Exodus. He liked Exodus 1:8 ‘
Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh once again and tell him, ‘This is what the Lord says “Let my people go, so they can worship me…” (NLT translation)

Jake’s favourite verse is Revelation 3:20.
‘Here I am I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens up the door I will come in, and eat with him, and he with me.’ (NIV translation)

Noah likes Revelation 2:10-11.
‘Do not be afraid of anything you are about to suffer. Listen! The Devil will put you to the test by having some of you thrown into prison, and your troubles will last ten days. Be faithful to me, even if it means death, and I will give you life as your prize of victory. (Good News Bible).

Aimee likes John 14: 1-4.
"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going." (NIV translation)

Bethany likes Matthew 13:12.
‘To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given, and they will have an abundance of knowledge. But for those who are not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away from them.’ (NLT translation)

Eleni likes Psalm 6 2-4
‘Have compassion on me, Lord, for I am weak.
Heal me, Lord, for my bones are in agony. I am sick at heart. How long, O Lord, until you restore me? Return, O Lord, and rescue me. Save me because of your unfailing love. (NLT translation)

Tianna likes 2 Timothy 1:7
‘For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline’. (NLT translation)

It’s an honour to teach such a wonderful bunch of students this year. I am looking forward to helping them grow spiritually, academically and socially.
