Does HCC have a proven academic record?

  • Will my child perform as well academically at HCC
compared to a more prestigious private school?
  • Are small class sizes at HCC a hindrance?
  • Will my child be offered a wide range of subjects at VCE?
  • How did the VCE students of 2009 perform?

Are you one of the 9 million people who have looked at the
‘My School’ website and what do the results actually show?

Can I encourage you to make an appointment to speak with Jason Burgess or Damian Higgins to find out the answers to some of these very important questions?

Why send your child to a Christian School?

PRINCIPAL’S LETTER

I was asked this question recently by a parent visiting the school; “Why should I send my son to a Christian school and if I do send him to a Christian school will he do well academically?” This is a familiar question to Christian School Principals and one that I am happy to answer.

The answer to the second part of the question is a resounding ‘yes’! We have fantastic teaching staff at Heatherton Christian College, all very competent in their subject areas. We have smaller class sizes to enable more individual time with your child. Our NAPLAN results are well above the state averages in most areas. We offer a broad range of subjects at VCE taught by our experienced VCE staff.

Students studying at Heatherton Christian College are part of an environment that is geared toward achieving the best possible academic outcomes for your child.

Children today face more compelling influences on their values, beliefs and thinking, than any other previous generation. Children today are intensely influenced by the internet, the mass media and by secular school teaching. Christian schools offer powerful assistance to parents who want to educate their children to resist the pressures and temptations the world offers and to grow to be effective Christian citizens who will influence the world for good and for God.

This has been most evident with the incredible impact the recent Year 10 missions trip has had on our students. A group of 12 fifteen/sixteen year old students raised their own finances to travel and serve an aboriginal community on Palm Island, in far North Queensland. They spent their spring school holidays cleaning streets, cleaning homes and public buildings, running children's programs, sharing God's love with the locals and bringing love and hope to many people. On their return, the Year 10 students took the whole Secondary chapel service. They led the worship, performed a powerful drama skit, and each team member shared a short testimony about how the missions trip had changed them and brought them closer to God. I was deeply moved hearing their stories and hearing how God has worked in their lives.

Experiences such as these have eternal consequences. What better environment can there be than this to educate your child?!

Quote …

"What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul?" (Matthew 16:26)
